So many terms are used interchangeably. Here at Chillin and Grillin BBQ I often interchange them as well, but to break it down to the technicalities:

Grilling: General term for cooking over direct flame (high heat). Which could be done on an open pit, a gas grill, or a wood burning grill, and so on.

Barbecuing (BBQ): Similar to grilling, except usually with a little lower heat and a cover to hold in the heat.

Smoking: My personal favorite! Usually referenced as “low and slow”. Meaning low temperatures, cooking for a longer period of time. Letting the cooked item bathe in clean smoke from various types of wood.

This site does not cater to any specific way of cooking. I only want to provide sound advice for those who are looking for it!

Bottom line, feel free to invite your friends over for a BBQ this weekend. Cook the meal any way you want! Just make sure you are Chillin while Grillin!

Speaking of Chillin, I thought it would be a good idea to post a Weekly Cocktail each Thursday to help you chill while you grill. Check back each week for a new drink recipe!

Enjoy!
